Our Leaders

As the Executive Chairman of BFI Capital Group, Frank Suess heads up the group's overall business and strategy. He personally advises a select group of wealthy international investors and families with a focus on cross-border planning and prudent wealth management. He also acts as the Chairman of the Swiss Registered Investment Advisors Association (SRIAA). 

Prior to his time at BFI, Mr. Suess held a senior management position with Price Waterhouse, working as a strategic and operational management consultant to a number of international corporations. Mr. Suess holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley and a Bachelor´s degree in Finance from Saint Mary´s College.

​Alex Seidel is an independent board member and investor having gained over 35 years of experience in General Management and in Marketing & Sales with leading international companies such as Procter & Gamble and Mars. In his prior positions as Chairman at Unilever, Switzerland, and CEO of Bestfoods for Switzerland and for the Czech & Slovak Republics, he was able to demonstrate repeatedly his pragmatic focus on delivering results in challenging environments and his ability to lead teams through shared vision and values.

Mr. Seidel holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of St. Gallen.

Oliver Kehl, since 1998, has been a co-founder and managing partner of a renowned tax advisory firm in Zurich, Switzerland. His firm offers a unique array of tax and accounting services. Mr. Kehl's focus is on international structure and cross-border tax advisory work for a select group of international institutions and wealthy entrepreneurs. Prior to 1998, Mr. Kehl served as a manager in the tax advisory department of Coopers & Lybrand, in their so-called ”Owner Managed Business” department. Mr. Kehl also became Co-Director at a major Swiss bank, with the responsibility of establishing the HNWI multi-family-office division for the bank.

Mr. Kehl holds a post-graduate degree of Executive Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Taxation. Moreover, he holds a Master of business & economics (lic.oec.publ.) from the University of  Zürich.

Bernarda Pesantez has been with BFI since 2000. She heads up the group’s wealth and insurance planning services and acts as the Chief Compliance Officer for BFI Infinity Ltd. Prior to joining BFI, Mrs. Pesantez worked for a Swiss private bank.

Mrs. Pesantez holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Equinoctial Technological University of Ecuador, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of London. She also holds a Trust and Estate Practitioners qualification (TEP) and is a member of the Swiss branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Bernarda Pesantez

Scott Schamber has been with BFI since 2002, most recently heading up our firm’s relationship management and client advisory team. With Global Gold, he leads a team dedicated to the purchase and storage of physically allocated metals in Switzerland, and is co-editor to the “Digger Quarterly” as well as the Global Gold blog.

Prior to joining BFI, Mr. Schamber worked as a supervisor for a large US insurance company.

Dirk Steinhoff has been with BFI since 2007 and acts as the group’s Chief Investment Officer. He is also a managing partner of BFI Infinity and, as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO), takes the lead regarding the firm's investment process and research.

Prior to joining BFI, Mr. Steinhoff had acted as an independent asset manager for over 15 years. Furthermore, he successfully founded and built two companies in the realm of infrastructure and real estate management. Mr. Steinhoff holds a Master´s degree in Civil Engineering and Business Administration from the Technical University of Berlin.

​Katja Widmer has worked at BFI since 1999. She heads up the group's administration and HR matters. 

Prior to working at BFI, Mrs. Widmer worked as an executive assistant at Price Waterhouse in Zurich. She holds a Swiss Commercial Diploma.

​Daniel Zurbruegg is a managing partner of BFI Infinity and, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), signs responsible for the executive management of the firm.

Prior to his tenure at BFI, Mr. Zurbruegg had founded and managed Swiss Infinity Global Investments GmbH, an independent investment advisor that merged with BFI Wealth Management (International) Inc. to form BFI Infinity in 2017. Mr. Zurbruegg was the Head Asset Manager for a private bank in Zurich, where he and his team managed the bank’s private client portfolio with total value of US$1.2 billion. His focus was on global asset management and asset protection. Prior to that, he was a Treasury Manager for Kraft Foods / Altria Group, focusing on foreign exchange management and global investments, and Compagnie Financière Richemont AG. Mr. Zurbruegg also managed institutional money for Richemont, which belongs to the Rupert family of companies.

James M. Duggan is a founding principal of DUGGAN BERTSCH, LLC, a Chicago-based business, tax, estate and wealth planning firm comprised of attorneys and accountants. Jim’s practice has concentrated principally on business and corporate law, and estate and wealth planning, primarily as they relate to closely held business interests and high net worth families.

Jim’s experience in the structuring and implementation of Family Offices, sophisticated tax planning, and asset protection planning strategies is internationally recognized, as is his role in his firm’s development of a leading multidisciplinary planning protocol.

Jim’s educational background includes attaining a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Magna Cum Laude), a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from the DePaul University Graduate School of Business (Summa Cum Laude), and a Juris Doctor from the DePaul University College of Law, where he was awarded positions on both the DePaul Law Review and DePaul Business Law Journal.

Jeff Nabers has been a close business partner of BFI since 2010, involved in various roles. Most recently, Mr. Nabers has been advising and supporting BFI in the realm of alternative investments and crypto assets.  His continuous study of economics, psychology and technology provides a unique perspective on navigating today’s financial environment.

Mr. Nabers has founded multiple successful companies in the fields of mortgage brokerage, real estate investing, pension consulting and crypto-asset investing.

Marc D. Seidel works for Google, where he advises agencies in Switzerland and Austria on their digital marketing strategies. Prior to that he worked for Facebook working with the leading Swiss companies in Financial Services, CPG, Retail and Publishing. He also worked at BFI for 9 years, holding various positions, including being responsible for the group’s digital strategy toward the end of his tenure.

Mr. Seidel founded two companies in the health care and law digitalization sector.

Sune Hojgaard Sorensen is the founder of Librarium Associates Ltd. – A global research facility focused on big macro economic and geopolitical trends serving institutional and private investors. In his role, he advises a select group sophisticated investors with regard to their international investment and portfolio management needs, identifying risks and pinpointing opportunities across asset classes.

Mr. Hojgaard Sorensen has over fifteen years of experience in the investment industry. He has gained experience across various asset classes such as real estate, commodities, precious metals and broader global macro strategies. He has a global outlook based on his time spend living and working all over the world. He has worked on a broad range of projects, from the entrepreneurial to the more institutional type ventures.

Sune Hojgaard Sorensen

Felix Zulauf is the founder of Zulauf Asset Management and Vicenda Asset Management. He has worked in the financial markets and asset management for more than 40 years. He is also a 30-year member of the Barron's Round Table and internationally recognized for his investment savvy and economic expertise. 

Mr. Zulauf started his investment career as a trader for a large Swiss Bank and received training in research and portfolio management thereafter with several leading investment banks in New York, Zurich and in Paris. He joined UBS in 1977 and held several positions over the years including managing global mutual funds, heading the institutional portfolio management unit and at the same time acting as the global strategist for the UBS Group.
