We love the following cartoon. It sums up so much in a simple picture. It does really appear that people trust the news – and the jibberish of all those talking heads – more than their own common sense and empirical observations. Independent thinking has become a rare item these days. In fact, unless you believe and go along with the consensus – that you will easily find in mass media – you are quickly exposed to ridicule and hate. This does not bode well for western societies and the democratic experiment.
